What We Do
The Mifflin County GIS Department is responsible for implementing a county-wide GIS system. This includes serving the mapping needs of the county government offices but primarily working with Planning, Assessment, and Emergency Services.
9-1-1 addressing and private lane naming are also administered through the department. Other responsibilities include:
- Parcel and subdivision maintenance
- Outlining voting districts
- Mapping deed information
- Helping plan needed wastewater and sewer systems
- Maintaining zoning maps
- Updating GIS partners with new data
- Creating land use maps
- Undertaking a variety of grant related GIS projects
- Assisting individuals in the local and regional communities with their mapping needs including realtors, bankers, flood companies, schools and local citizens
